Dorothy Ruth Haley, age 74, passed this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024, after battling an extended illness, surrounded by her family. She was born July 22, 1949, to the late Willie B. Black and Jesse Ruth Shelton. Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her baby brother, Willie B. Black, Jr., and her first husband, Ray Fletcher, who died in Vietnam, serving his country in the United States Army. She is survived by her sons, Jeff Haley and his wife, Lisa, and Joey Haley (Mike Hillis); 3 grandchildren, Jenny Haley, Hunter (Emily) Haley, and Hannah Haley.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She treasured her family and close friends. Anyone who knew her could tell you how much she loved people. She could meet you one time and tell you that she loves you. Some of her hobbies included watching TV, especially Nascar, fishing, going out to eat (where she loved to eat dessert first or with her meal), and talking on the phone. Dorothy worked for many years at M-Tek in the housekeeping department, until she had to leave due to her medical issues. She was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 1PM in the Coffee County Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Danny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, from 4 – 8PM at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Legacy Health & Rehab for providing Dorothy with loving care for the last several years.
Coffee County Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Haley family.
